Is there anyway of using pictures in the slider when the posts are private
Nope. The theme’s slider is really just a simple slider that showcases posts. Maybe you could use a different slider plugin to accomplish what you’re after. You could place a plugin’s shortcode on the Before Content widget area to replace the original slider.
