  1. Hi Ron, Awesome update you last did to the Frontier Theme. One modification I implemented and want to pass on to others is having the same top 6 pixels blue border showing for all my posts. You have this as the default around the listings of posts when you are in Category view etc. Thus if others want to have this top blue border showing for all their posts, they would edit the main style.css file and implement the following under: article, .author-info-box, .archive-info, .form-404

    border-top: 6px solid #2A5A8E; border-right: 1px solid #333;
    border-bottom: 1px solid #333; border-left: 1px solid #333;

      You should really add those CSS codes on Frontier Options -> CSS or maybe on the style.css of a child-theme. If you directly edit the theme files then you would lose your customizations as all the files are replaced whenever the theme is updated. This is true for all WordPress themes on wordpress.org

      1. Thanks Ron, And yes I found out the hard way that one does lose these changes when they modify the main style.css file when they install a theme update issued by you. Part of the reason for posting this was a suggest for you to make this a permanent implementation for the next update as it adds the perfect flavor to the theme with all posts having that same 6 pixel blue border at the top. You can view this in all my posts here: http://www.alex-haley.com/blog/ Lastly, you will observe I have a lot of menu items which are all perfectly centered from left to right. The way that I was able to bring this about (for all Browsers no less and it fixed IE9’s display of the menu) was to remove: “min-width: 80px;” from the “.menu-main > li > a, .menu-main > ul > .page_item > a” area of the main style.css code. In addition you are a total genius with your last update by adding “padding: 5px;” into the “#main” area thereby adjusting what you had previously for padding in the “#content” area. This helped so much and now my listing of items (category items) in the right side bar now display on a single line of text instead of two lines as before. Awesome! ~ Darren

  2. Greetings. I want to translate the template “Frontier” to the Russian but it’s not impossible to make, although the site wordpress.org you have that it can be done. I’m doing a translation Poedit. Other patterns are opened for editing fine, but for some reason your not. Please reply by e-mail viruz.atom@gmail.com or Skype viruz.atom

    1. I did the translation, but it does not work ((answer if you can, how to do the translation work.

      1. Did you download the theme from wordpress.org ? Translation works fine with this tool http://wordpress.org/plugins/codestyling-localization/

        1. yes theme downloaded from off site WP and the translation done by POedit. When the template is loaded with the translation was an error style.css that the file is not present, although it is in the folder. I’ll try to do the translation with the help of this plug-in

        2. Done. With the help of the plugin turned out normally translate. Data transfer can take advantage of all that are using this plugin?

  3. Hi, I’m using 2 column version.

    1.06 -> everything is OK
    I updated 1.07 and 1.08 right menu is wrong place (bottom).
    But in some pages right menu in TRUE place 🙂

    (sorry My english is bad)

    Please update 1.09.
    Thanks.

    1. Sorry 🙁
      I deleted CACHE plugin. And problem solved.

      1.08 good working 🙂

  4. Hi I am using Frontier to build a site for a
    friend and I am having a problem with the header. The header will not
    resize in a tablet or phone browser or when you make a pc browser
    smaller then the size of the header. http://www.classonedrivingltd.co.uk/

    1. If you remove the header background and instead add your image on the logo section of the theme option, that would automatically make it resize to fit the header. But if you insist on achieving that using a header background then you can add this on the Custom CSS option:

      #header {background-size: 100% 100%;}

    2. That’s brilliant thank you so much.

  5. Hello Ron,

    I like this theme and will like it even more if it were possible to get the slider to display banners that are clickable to an offer page or whatever.

    The main thing I would like is to have images sliding continuously and not blank. Can you help me with this please. It’s the version 1.0.8 I’m using

    This is the site I’m working on: http://thesurveysites.com

    Thank you

    1. You’ll have to set your banners as the Featured Image on the posts that are showing on the slider. Or if you only want to show 1 image on all of the post, you can set that on Frontier Options -> Slider -> Default Slider Image

  6. Hi Ron,
    How do I change the text color on the top bar? Or maybe remove the bar itself?
    Thanks,
    Jaime

    1. Or maybe remove the bar itself?

      Frontier Options -> Display -> Top Bar. Then uncheck "Enable Top Bar" option.

  7. Hello Ron 🙂 … first of all, thank you so much for this excellent template. I´m having some trouble trying to make the thumbnails work in every preview of the post when its in ‘excerpt’ option, in ‘full’ i dont have problems, but i cant make it work in excerpt. Please help me out 😉 thanks a lot!!!!

    1. never mind Ron, i found the solution =P … i didnt had the featured image by default, i have to do it manually in each post or i’ll have to use a plugin to do it automatically 😉 … thanks anyway and i hope this info will be very helpfull to others with the same problem 🙂 …

  8. Hi Ron. Can you help me out setting up an rss feed? I’m fairly confused.

    1. What do you mean by “setting up”? WordPress already has feeds available for every post and comments.

      1. Sorry to bug you about this, thought I had to add something to the sidebar or footer file. That’s what it says in WordPress codex…

  9. I Have just upgraded to WordPress 3.7 and can no longer access the Frontier Options panel in Appearance, is anyone having the same problem?

    1. Just tested on three sites and the Options page works just fine. Try to clear your browser cache.

  10. Hi i have a question how can i change container width in this theme ? from what i observed container width is changing autmaticly with function content width + side bar width but i dont want this i want to set fixed value to conatiner, content and side bar. ( I don’t know PHP please help).

    1. from what i observed container width is changing automatically

      No. The width will only change IF you change it on the options page.

  11. Then i mesed something in CSS and i dont know what, beacuse right know my side bar is under the content. From what i observed they both have float left atribute so they just to wide to fit in the container any solutions ??

    And thanks for answering me so fast

    1. Could you post a link to your site?

      1. Sorry i have it on XAMPP just tell me is there any option to set width stright from CSS code

        1. The css for the widths are outputted using the function frontier_print_layout found on the functions.php

          Then i mesed something in CSS and i dont know what

          Maybe it would be better if you download a fresh copy of the theme to see exactly what caused the sidebars to under in your case. You’re using the latest version, right?

  12. I reinstaled whole theme, i lost some of my work but thats ok right know side bar is again on the right side. Funny thing that when i only changed css file side bar was still on the bottom. So i still dont know what cause the problem.

    Thank for help

    1. You should be using a child-theme so that your modifications are preserved and at the same time making your own changes easier to keep track.

  13. Hi Ron,

    I have two questions about your great theme: (I refer to the first face/screenshot of your theme.)

    1. How is the blue bar at the top of the posts fitted in?

    2. How is the blue background at the widget headlines (in the sidebar) fitted in?

    Regards Tommy

    1. .blog-view { border-top: 6px solid #2A5A8E; }
      .widget-title { background-color: #2A5A8E; }

      How to use firebug to change css

      1. Ok, thanks. But is it possible to get a blue background at the blog-title? Because there is no “.blog-title { …” in the style.css

        1. Please read the link I posted above. The equivalent class is .entry-header

  14. Hello, how can I change the font size and style of this theme? I already tried to add this in the custom CSS section of the theme, but it didn’t work: body { font-size: 16px; font-family: verdana; }
    I’m looking forwards to getting a good advice.

    Best regards
    Steven

    1. It depends on what part of the theme you want to change. If you want to change the font of the content on single posts and pages:

      .single-view.type-post .entry-content,
      .single-view.type-page .entry-content {
           font-size: 16px;
           font-family: verdana;
      }

      This might be useful how to use firebug to change css

      1. Thank you! 🙂
